Shouldering the Weight of the World

Lately, it feels like every woman walking into my treatment room is carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders. And who can blame them? With global horrors, the cost-of-living crisis, and crumbling health and social care systems, stress levels are through the roof.

Whilst I shared a beautiful reel from Andréa Ranae today reminding us that the world is not ours to carry, sometimes it’s easier said than done. So I’ve been leaning on the powerful combination of Sweet Marjoram and GB21 in my Meridian Aromatherapy sessions for us to remember this truth.

While Marjoram might not be as well-known as the likes of Lavender or Jasmine, it’s a powerful oil ally for bringing our body and mind into equilibrium and easing any agitation in our energetic bodies.

Marjoram is like the no-nonsense friend who shows up and says, “Don’t worry, I’ve got you. You’re not in this alone, and we’re strong together.” It’s got this powerful energy that makes you feel held—strengthening and relaxing you at the same time.

It’s perfect for those nights when your mind won’t shut up and sleep feels impossible. Marjoram acts as a gentle guide, clearing out the confusion and conflict that leaves you feeling annoyed, distracted, or ungrounded. It reminds us that the world is not ours to carry and offers a deep sense of calm.

In Chinese medicine, GB21 is associated with the Gall Bladder meridian, which is linked to decision-making and purpose. When this meridian is blocked or unbalanced, it can manifest as physical tension, especially in the shoulders and neck, as well as emotional issues like irritability, indecision, and frustration.

Applying Sweet Marjoram on GB21 is a gentle energy treatment offering holistic healing by supporting physical, emotional, and energetic balance. This helps us navigate the stress and uncertainty of these times and, as we care for ourselves, we are more able to uplift those around us.

Our wellbeing is intertwined with the wellbeing of our communities. The weight that so many are carrying reflects the broader global and societal pressures we all face. By fostering our own sense of calm and clarity, we are also more able to contribute to the resilience and health of our communities.
